Doesn´t time fly when you are not typing a blog?
After an unenforced 5 and a half month hiatus I logged on to the blog (technically I do not feel I can live up to the title of blogger or having a blog as they are associated with regular updates).

Jocky, we salute you!
Sadly one of Kirkcaldy´s famous sons has just left this mortal coil. Jocky Wilson the darts legend passed on at the age of 62. He was probably Scotland´s best ever darts player.

The man was a legend in a time when darts players were not the well-honed athletes they may think they are today but big lads who would step up on the ochee and throw treble 20s for fun.
A funny story related to the big man was when he inadvertently appeared on Top of the Pops, albeit in huge poster form not in the flesh, behind Dexy´s Midnight Runners when they were performing "Jackie Wilson Said" as can be seen in the picture below.

It is unsure whether this was an accident or a tongue-in-cheek prank. It is easier to see in the clip:

Despite having similar sounding names Jocky Wilson and Jackie Wilson were not exactly doppelgangers.

Spot the difference?
Both top lads and both sadly departed.
